A glaring fault in the Perentie (and early 110 as well) wiring harness is the unfused battery power that passes into the dash (on multiple wires). With age these wires can chafe and short out, usually melting the main wiring harness in the process (and some parts of the dash as well).
The first sign of this is prodigious amounts of smoke pouring out of the dash, usually accompanied by the expensive smell of burnt electrics. If this happens, the only way to cut the power is to disconnect the battery. We have seen a spate of these over the last few months and new main harnesses are very hard to find (and nudging $2k if you do find one), prompting us to come up with a fix.
Our kit uses a 40 amp resettable circuit breaker fitted under the bonnet. The original wiring is not modified, but all battery power passing through the firewall goes through this circuit breaker first. Fitting takes about fifteen minutes. A very cheap prevention of a potentially very expensive problem.

40A Circuit Breaker (upgradeable to 50A on request)
